"Head On Straight", a track from the forthcoming Mike Shupp CD "The Key", has just been released on Swedish label Sound Asleep Records' "Hit The Hay Vol. 4", and is the lead-off track for the 2-CD compilation set of American pop.  The collection includes tracks by Will Rigby, The Graverobbers, Crash Into June, and many more...

01/06/00 — New CD
—BIG NEWS—drummer Chris Zogby and Mike have just completed work on the new full-length CD "The Key", produced, engineered, and mixed by (the) Shoes’ Jeff Murphy (Material Issue producer, including "Valerie Loves Me"), with a release date scheduled October 7th, 2000.  The record was recorded and mixed in just two weeks, Dec. 6th - 18th, at Short Order Recorder, in Zion, IL, (see session photos) just north of Chicago.  Chris handled the drums and percussion, Mike played guitars, bass, and vocals.  Watch this space in the coming weeks for MP3s and Real Audio clips.  Advance orders available here.

10/27/99 — Free show at IOTA this Sat. night!
We'll be at IOTA club this Sat. night Oct. 30th.  We will go on first, starting very close to 9:30 p.m., so get there early, have a beer, relax!  Excellent area band Yuma House is on after us, and a third local act may still be announced…  IOTA club is in Arlington VA.  And, the night before, Fri. Oct 29th, will be a rare, acoustic, Big Bang Theory reunion of sorts, as Mike Shupp and Victoria Grace join Sam Spencer during his opening set for 24fps at the Metro Cafe in Wash. DC!
 

8/26/99 —   opening for John Faye Power Trip at IOTA
an excellent power pop show Thu., Sept. 9th at IOTA club in Arlington VA! We will open for the John Faye Power Trip (John is formerly of A&M recording artists The Caulfields), currently touring to support the upcoming release of John's long awaited independent record (slated for 9/14).  ...also on the bill will be Marianne Flemming;  check back for more details!

7/19/99 — Invited to International Pop Overthrow festival
Mike Shupp was invited to perform at the International Pop Overthrow festival in Los Angeles, for a half hour set at The Gig, Sat. July 24th, in West L.A.; but alas, with only 3 days notice having been given, the logistics proved sufficiently daunting that the decision was made to take a pass on this one, with an agreement to appear at next year's show (with a little more notice!) Watch this space for next year's news...

...we have an excellent DC area show coming up, an opening slot for Capitol recording artists the Push Stars, Fri. July 9th, at IOTA in Arlington, VA.  The Push Stars are touring behind their major label debut, "After the Party", and the success of the "Something About Mary" soundtrack, which included their song "Everything Shines".
