Paul McCartney on Good Hang with Amy Poehler

Paul McCartney is the guest on “Paul McCartney Is Music,” the October 13, 2026 episode of Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang from The Ringer. The episode runs about an hour and 15 minutes. His daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney, joins at the start to ask her father about his first memory, and he describes being born at Walton Hospital in Liverpool. McCartney also talks about his pre-Beatles job winding coils in a factory for £7.15 a week, which he left when John Lennon and George Harrison offered him a gig at the Cavern, and about family life on the farm in Scotland after the Beatles.

Other topics include his songwriting partnership with Lennon, Wings and Linda McCartney, his new album Boys of Dungeon Lane, Morgan Neville’s documentary Man on the Run, his history with Saturday Night Live, and being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. Asked whether he has ever smoked “Monkberry Moon Delight,” McCartney explains that “monk” was his children’s word for milk, so the song title refers to a milkshake. In a closing rapid-fire round he names the 1960s as the best decade for music, “Here, There and Everywhere” as his favorite of his own songs, and Bob Dylan as the collaborator he would still like to work with (transcript).
